What it is like

A herb. It grows 7-18 cm tall. It has a slender branched rhizome. There are 2-4 leaves crowded at the base of the aerial shoots. The leaves are oval to heart shaped and reddish above and green underneath. They are 2-3 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. There are rounded teeth along the edge. The flowers are cup shaped and nodding. The fruit capsule it 5-6 mm across.

Also put in the family Pyrolaceae. It is used as medicine.


Where it is found

It is a subtropical plant. It grows between 1,800-4,000 m above sea level. In Yunnan.
