What it is like
A herb. It takes 2 years to complete its life cycle. It grows 45-100 cm high. It is branched at the top end. The leaves do not have leaf stalks. The lower leaves on the stem are oblong and 12-14 cm long by 5-8 cm wide. They clasp the stem. The flowers are pale yellow.
There are about 20 Lactuca species.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It is native to Taiwan.
