What it is like

A tree. It grows 3-10 m tall. The trunk is 10-50 cm across. There are spines in the axils of leaves. The leaves are 25 cm long with 4-12 pairs of leaflets along the stalk. These are 10-30 mm long by 2-12 mm wide. The pods are 6-24 cm long by 6-12 mm wide and 3-8 mm thick.


Where it is found

It is a subtropical plant. In Argentina it grows from sea level to 1,500 m above sea level.
