What it is like
An evergreen tree. It grows 10-20 m tall. The bark is pale grey or brown and flaking. It is sometimes deeply cracked. The leaves are 7-16 cm long by 3-8 cm wide. They vary in shape. The flowers are small and white. They are in slender clusters behind the leaves. These are 8 cm long. The fruit are about 1.5 cm long. They are dark red to purple-black. They are round. There is one seed.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows in open savannah and along streams. It grows between 500-1,000 m above sea level.
