What it is like
An annual herb. It grows 40 cm high. The stems are angular and hairy. The leaves are simple and opposite. They are oval and taper to the tip. There are teeth around the edge. The flowering stalks are at the end of the plant and are cylinder shaped. They are like a spike. They are on a 15 cm stalk.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. Plants are best in a rich organic soil and in full sun. They need plenty of moisture. In China it is recorded in barren lands and dry mountain sides as well as along streams at low elevations. In Yunnan.
