What it is like
A tree. It grows 9-40 m tall. The trunk is 90 cm across. It has white sap. The leaves are clustered in spirals and are 9-19 cm long by 4-8 cm wide. There are many flowers in a group. The flowers are dark violet. The fruit are 4-5 cm long and broadly oblong. There is 1 seed.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in lowland forests in both flooded and non flooded forests up to about 700 m above sea level.
