What it is like

A tree. It grows 30 m tall. The trunk is 50 cm across. Young shoots have fine brown hairs. The leaves are in clusters and arranged in spirals. They are 12-19 cm long by 5-6 cm wide. They are narrowly oval and taper to the ends. The flowers are in groups or 3-8 and mostly below the leaves. The flowers are greenish-yellow and have a scent. The fruit are 5-6 cm long. There is one seed about 3 cm long.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in the Amazon in forest that is occasionally flooded.
