What it is like

A shrub or small tree. It grows 3-6 m tall. The leaves are narrowly oval and 6-11 cm long by 3-5 cm wide. They are pale green underneath. The flowers can occur singly or in groups of 3-5 in the axils of leaves. They are 4-5 cm across. The petals are white. The fruit are cylinder shaped capsules 3-4 cm long by 1.5 cm wide.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in thickets or forests between 1,100-2,400 m above sea level. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
