What it is like
A small tree. It grows 5 m high. The trunk is 15-25 cm across. The leaves are alternate and compound. The leaf stalk is 9-12 cm long. The leaflets are opposite or alternate. They are 17-20 cm long by 6-7 cm wide. The leaf blade is oval. The flowers are in a long cluster and in the axils of leaves. Flowers are of one sex only. The fruit are in groups. They are oval but irregular in shape. They are 3-4 cm long by 2.5-3 cm wide. There is one seed. It is 2.5 cm long by 1.5 cm across.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. In Bolivia it grows up to 500 m altitude. It grows in areas with rainfall of 1000-1500 m altitude.
