What it is like

A slender climber. The leaves have stalks. The leaves are 4-13.5 cm long by 1.5-8 cm wide. They are oval to sword shaped. They are thinly leathery. The base is rounded. The flowers are green and in spikes which occur singly. The fruit is a berry. It is oval and pointed.

There are between 1000-2000 Piper species. They are mostly in the tropics.


Where it is found

A subtropical plant. In Nepal it grows between 200-2000 m altitude. It grows in steep, rocky, shady places.
