What it is like
A tree. It grows 30 m high. The trunk is 1.3 m across. The bark is dark grey and cracked. The leaves are in groups or 2 or occasionally 3. They are stout and rigid and 6-15 cm long by about 1.5 mm wide. They are slightly twisted. The cones are oblique and 5-6 cm long by 4 cm wide. The seeds are 4-6 mm long. They are slightly flattened.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows in the mountains in Yunnan and Tibet in China. Arboretum Tasmania.
