What it is like

A herb. It grows from a thick woody rootstock. It keeps growing from year to year. The stems can be 1.8 m long. They can be climbing. The leaves have 3 leaves and these are 4-10 cm long by 1-7 cm wide. They are oval or sword shaped. The flowers usually appear before the leaves. The leaf stalks can be 3-13 cm long. The fruit are pods 7-11 cm long by 4-7 mm wide. They are narrowly linear in shape and have a straight beak. The seeds are 6-8 mm long by 3-4 mm wide.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in open forest. It also grows in seasonally burnt grassland between 1,100-2,000 m above sea level.
