What it is like
It is a robust ginger family herb that keeps growing from year to tear. It grows 3 m tall. It has stilt roots. The seeds are sword shaped and 53-69 cm long by 8-14 cm wide. The fruit is oval and flattened and like a berry.
There are about 60 Hornstedtia species. They occur in tropical Asia.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows in mountain forests between 1,000-2,500 m above sea level. It occurs in Java.
