What it is like
A robust ginger family herb that keeps growing from year to year. It grows 4 m tall. The leaves are sword shaped and are 32-63 cm long by 7-15 cm wide. The fruit are oval and like a berry. The seeds are broadly oval and 3 mm across.
There are about 60 Hornstedtia species. They occur in tropical Asia.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows in forests up to 1,000 m above sea level. It occurs in Java.
