What it is like
A solitary palm. It has a slender trunk. It is about 1 m tall. The leaves have leaflets along the stalk. The leaves arch over. They are about 1.5 m long. The leaflets are 30 cm long by 2 cm wide and are crowded. They curve towards the tip of the frond. The flowering stalk has 4 or 5 hanging branches. The fruit are blackish and oval. They are 12 mm long by 6 mm wide and narrow near the tip.
Where it is found
It is a tropical and subtropical plant. It grows in Northern India between 600 and 1200 m altitude.
