What it is like
A tall shrub or small tree. It grows 2-8 m high. The leaves have leaflets along the stalk. There are 3-5 leaflets. They are oval and 6-14 cm long by 3-8 cm wide. They taper to the tip and the base is rounded. There are teeth along the edge. The leaf stalks are 5-20 cm long. The flowers are small and white. The fruit is fleshy, oval and purple-black. They are 6-7 mm across
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It is native to southern China. It grows on cliffs and rocky slopes between 1,000-3,000 m above sea level. It grows in Sichuan and Yunnan.
