What it is like
A herb. It lies along the ground. It grows 7-60 cm high. It has a woody rootstock up to 1 cm wide. The leaves are 2-9 cm long by 1-4 cm wide. They are broadly oval. The flowers are in a large head 7 cm long by 4 cm wide. The flower tube is bright blue. The fruit are black and 3-5 mm long by 2-3 mm wide. The seeds are brown and 2.5 mm long by 2 mm wide. They are thin.

It is a tropical plant. It grows on plateau woodland and in grassy places.
