What it is like
A ginger family herb. The rhizomes are cylinder shape and have an aroma. The false stems are 60-100 cm long by 6-10 mm wide. The base has green sheaths. The leaves are long and narrowly oval and taper to both ends. The flowering shoots come from the rhizome. The flowers are yellow.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in high elevations in evergreen hill forests. In Yunnan it grows at about 1,200 m above sea level.
