What it is like
A herb. It grows 80-150 cm tall. The stems are single, erect and with lines along them. The lower parts are purple. There are 3-4 leaves in the middle section of the stem. They are oval or kidney shaped and 9-15 cm long by 11-18 cm wide. They have lobes arranged like fingers on a hand. There are 5-7 lobes. There are many flower heads at the top of the plant.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows in shaded wet places in the under-story of the forest between 1,600-3,200 m above sea level. In Yunnan.
