What it is like

A medium sized tree. It grows from 0.6-5 m high. The crown is rounded. The bark is hard and fibrous. The young growth is covered with silky hairs. The leaves are 2-6 cm long by 0.6-0.8 cm wide. They are sword shaped and alternate. The flower heads are at the ends of branches. They are 2-8 cm long and 1-1.5 cm wide. The petals are 0.2 cm long and hairy. The capsule is 0.2-0.3 cm across. It is cup shaped.

A tropical plant. It grows in moist woodland and near streams. It needs a sunny position.
