What it is like
A large palm with fan shaped leaves which are entire in their central part. The flowers are small about 2 mm across. The leaf stalks of the adult plant are spiny at the base. The central segments of the adult leaves are parted. The fruit are of medium size.
There are 28 Livistona species.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. They are widely distributed in the Philippines but grow naturally only in forested areas and are somewhat local in occurrence.
