What it is like

A tree. It grows 6-12 m tall. The branches are blackish brown. The leaves are oval and 5-11 cm long by 3-6 cm wide. They are pale green underneath. There are many flowers in a group. The flowers are 5-7 mm across. The petals are white. The fruit are black and a flattened round shape. They are 7-8 mm across.

There are about 200 Prunus species.


Where it is found

Temperate. It grows beside streams in sparse forests between 1,800-3,200 m above sea level. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
