What it is like
A herb. The stem is 20 cm tall. The leaves have 3 leaflets. The leaflets have 2 lobes. They are purple underneath. There are 2-6 flowers in a group. They are red with a yellow tube.
Where it is found
It is a subtropical plant. It grows in the shade on rocky slopes between 80-350 m above sea level in South Africa.
