What it is like

A large cactus. It grows 6 m tall and can be 10 cm across. The stems are straight and like columns. It can branch at the base. There are 5-7 ribs and a long central spine with 5-9 spines around it. The flowers are pink or greenish-white. They grow along the edges of the ribs. The fruit is small and spiny. They are yellowish to dark red. they are about 1 cm across. They are sweet and have many black seeds.
