What it is like

The leaves are 4-11 cm long by 2-6 cm wide. They are rounded or heart shaped at the base. The flowers are reddish-black. The fruit are long and 4-5 cm long. They are produced in clusters of up to 12 fruit. The fruit have several disk shaped seeds. The fruit are orange when ripe.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in vine forests and along streams. It can stand some flooding. It grows best with light shade. It grows from sea level to 100 m above sea level.
