What it is like
A cactus. It is tree like. The trunk is 30 cm long and the branches are open. The stem segments are large and can be wavy along the edge. They are 35-55 cm wide. The flowers are creamy white. They fruit are red with an orange tint. They are 9-10 cm long and 4-5 cm wide.
There are about 250 Opuntia species.
