What it is like
A clustering spiny palm. It grows 10 m high. The trunk is 10 cm across. The crown-shafts are deep red or orange. There are lines of small black spines. The leaf crowns form a half circle. The leaves are 2-2.6 m long. The leaf stalks are 60 cm long. The leaflets hang down in older leaves.

A tropical plant. It grows in low mountainous rainforest.
