What it is like
A tree. It grows 15 m tall. The leaves are simple and alternate. The leaves are narrowly oval and taper to a short tip. They are 8-23 cm long by 4-6 cm wide. The edges are slightly wavy. The flowers are in a group in the axils of leaves. These are 2-4 cm long. They have rusty hairs. The fruit is fleshy and red. It is 1 cm long by 1.5 cm wide. There is one seed.

It is a tropical plant. It grows as an understorey tree at low elevations in evergreen or moist forests.
