What it is like
A herb that grows in water. It grows 30-100 cm tall. The leaves are at the base and are oval or sword shaped. The leaf bases are rounded or heart shaped. The leaves have long sheathing stalks. The flowering stems do not have leaves. The flowers are white and 1 cm across. They have 3 broad petals. They only last a short time but are produced in rings forming long clusters. The fruit are dry seed pods 3 mm long.

It grows in marshes and swamps.
