What it is like

A slender palm. The trunk is solitary and brown and smooth. It has rings. It is 6-10 m high and 20 cm across. The crown has few leaves and is erect. The leaves are 3-4 m long. The crown-shaft is brownish-green. The leaf stalks are 40-60 cm long. The leaflets are broad and spaced along the midrib and more crowded towards the top. The leaflets are tapered to both ends. The flowering stalks are 60 cm long. The flowers are white to cream. The fruit are oval and 13-15 mm long by 6-7 mm wide. They are bright orange to red.
