What it is like
A small shrub. The stems are branched and downy. The leaves are oval and have glands on them. The leaves are 9 cm long and have wavy edges. The leaves are downy underneath. The flowers are mauve and have a strong scent. They are 2 cm long.
There are about 35 Aeolanthus species. They occur in Africa.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It needs a temperature above 15°-18°C. It grows on rocky outcrops at about 1,400 m above sea level. It is best in full sun and in a dry sandy, well-drained soil.
