What it is like

A small tree. It grows 3-6 m tall. The leaves are alternate. They are 10-17 cm long by 3.5-8 cm wide. The flowers can be on the stems or amongst the leaves. The flowers are 8 cm across and rich red. The fruit is round and 3-8 cm across. It has obscure lobes and is dark orange to red. The fruit are edible.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. It is native to West Africa. It grows in the forest zone.
