What it is like
A small tree. It grows 3-4 m high. It can be a large tree 16 m or more high. The bark is pale and rough. The branches are twisted. The leaves are alternate and 12 cm long by 4 cm wide. The flowers are pale yellow with reddish stains. They have a smell like vanilla and are produced amongst the leaves and on branches and the trunk. The fruit are woody and reddish-brown. There are 4-6 seeds in the pulp.
Presumably in a hot house in Slovenia.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It is native to West Africa. It grows in forests near streams and by the seashore. Melbourne Botanical Gardens hothouse.
