What it is like

A vine. The leaf stalks are up to 2 cm long. The leaf blade is narrowly oval and 6-12 cm long by 2-5 cm wide. They are papery or leathery. The leaf base is wedge shaped. The flower stalk is 4 cm long. The male and female flowers are separate. They fruit stalk is 3-9 cm long. The fruit sections are 7-12 cm long by 5-7 cm wide. There are 1-3 seeds per section. The seeds are kidney shaped.


Where it is found

In China it grows near rivers from 100-1,300 m altitude. It grows in temperate and tropical locations. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
