What it is like
A banana. It has a fattened tuberous root. The false stem is dark purple. It grows 1.5-2.4 m tall. The leaf stems are purple and 1 m long. The leaf blade is 2 m long by 50 cm wide. The fruiting bunch points upwards with 5-6 flowers and later fruit in each group. They are slightly curved and 7 cm long by 2.-3 cm wide. There are many brown seeds. These are 5 mm across.
