What it is like
A banana family herb. It grows up to 9 m tall. The false stem can be 3-7 m high. The leaf stalk is 50-80 cm long. The leaves are sword shaped and green or purplish. They are 2-2.5 m long and 40-75 cm wide. The flower stalk is drooping and long. It is 20-60 cm long by 3-6 cm wide. The bracts are dark purple.
There are about 30 Musa species.
