What it is like

A tree. It grows about 10 m tall. The fruit are 4-5 cm long by 4-6 cm wide. They have a smooth skin and turn orange to yellow when ripe. The skin is thin. There is one brown seed 1.2 cm long by 1.8 cm wide.

They have also been put in the family Memecylaceae.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows as an understorey tree in the higher parts of the floodplains in the Amazon.
