A small tree. The young twigs are 4 angled. The leaves are 14-23 cm long by 4-7 cm wide. They are narrowly oval. The edges curve back slightly. The flowering stalks occur on the trunk. There are 1-3 flowers on each. The flower petals are white.

They have also been put in the family Memecylaceae.
