What it is like
A shrub. It grows 0.6-2 m high and spreads 1.5 m wide. It loses its leaves during the year. The stems are purple and arch over. The leaves are dark green. The flowers are pink or purple. They are single and have prominent yellow stamens. The fruit are long hips that often hang down.
There are about 150 Rosa species and many cultivated varieties.
