What it is like
A herb that has stems that are woody at the base. It grows 20-50 cm high. The stems at the base are 1-2 cm across. The young branches are slender and hairy. The leaves are triangle shaped. They are 2-4 cm long by 2 cm wide. The lower leaves are divided twice into smaller leaflets. The flowers are small. They are in heads 3-5 mm long by 2-4 mm wide. They are in loose clusters in the axils of leaves or at the ends of branches.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows on grassy hillsides and rocky cliffs in arid and semi-desert places in northern China. It can grow in arid places.
