What it is like
A small tree. It grows 6 m tall. The bark is dark coloured. The leaves are compound and have leaflets along the stalk and one at the end. The leaves are 25 cm long. The leaflets are narrowly oval and 15-27 mm long. The edges are wavy. The flowers are in groups at the ends of the branches. The flowers are white. The fruit is round and fleshy. They are 5-6 mm across. They are purple to black. The seeds are round.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in lowland forests up to 500 m above sea level. In Argentina it grows from sea level to 1,000 m above sea level.
