What it is like

A tree. It grows 9 m tall. It has many branches. The crown is long and narrow. The stem is corky and grey. The bark is deeply cracked. The branches are 4 angled. The leaf blade is 5-14 cm long by 2-6 cm wide. The flowers are in a flat topped group. These are 2.5 cm long and have many flowers. They are in dense clusters in the axils of leaves. The fruit are 8-10 mm long by 7-9 mm wide. They are green when young and black when mature.

Also put in the family Memecylaceae.

It is a tropical plant. It grows on grey compact Kalahari sand. It is on the edge of forests.
