What it is like

A tree. It grows 25 m tall. The trunk can be 60 cm across. It can have buttresses. The bark is finely cracked and flaking. The small branches can be 4 sided. The leaves are broadly oval and 5-10 cm long by 2-6 cm wide. Several flowers occur in a group in the axils of leaves. The fruit are green when young. They are round and 7-10 mm across.

Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. In southern China it grows in forests between 500-1,800 m above sea level.
