What it is like

A tree. It grows 23 m tall. The branches are opposite and dark brown. The leaves are opposite and broadly oval. They are 8-13 cm long by 3-6 cm wide. The flowering shoots are at the ends of branches and 5-6 cm long with flowers loosely arranged. The fruit are oblong and 2 cm long by 9 mm wide.

There are 19 Mastixia species. They occur from India to the Solomon Islands. Also put in the family Nyssaceae.


Where it is found

It grows between 1300-1800 m altitude in Yunnan, China. It grows in subtropical evergreen broadleaved forest.
