What it is like
A tree. It grows 3-6 m high. The young branches and underneath the leaves have red coloured hairs. The flowers are small. The fruit is covered with many short spines. The fruit are 5 cm long. There are fleshy processes on the fruit. The seeds are brown. They have fleshy structures attached.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. In Colombia it grows at about 500 m above sea level.
