What it is like
A tree. It can be 4-30 m high. The trunk is 50 cm across. The young twigs can be 4 angled. The bark is soft and grey. It is cracked. The leaves are 6-13 cm long by 3-6 cm wide. They are narrowly oval. There are 1-2 flowering stalks on each side of the twigs. The flowers have a scent. The flowers have yellow or orange petals. The fruit are round and yellow. They are about 2 cm long. There is one seed.
It is also put in the family Memecylaceae.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in moist forests in areas that are sometimes flooded. It is mostly below 200 m altitude.
