What it is like

An annual herb. It grows 1.5 m tall. The stems are somewhat purplish. The leaves are almost round and heart shaped at the base. They are 1.5-2.5 cm long by 2-4 cm wide. They have 5-7 lobes. There can be teeth along the edge. The flowers occur as 4-7 together in the axils of leaves. The fruit is about 5 mm across. The seed are brown and 1 mm wide.

There are about 30 Malva species.
