What it is like

A large tree. It grows 8-12 m high and spreads 6-12 m wide. The leaves are softly downy underneath. The flowers are pink and on short stalks. The fruit are red, yellow or green. They are on short stalks.

There are about 35 Malus species and very many cultivated varieties.
