What it is like
A slender lily. The plant has a ring of leaves near the ground. There are only a few leaves and they are without hairs and narrow. There is a ring of tubers under the ground. The plant grows 20 cm high. The flowers are purple. They are 2 cm wide and have 3 petals with frilled edges. The flowers are in clusters. The fruit is a capsule.
There are about 50 Thysanotus species mostly in Australia. They are also put in the family Anthericaceae. Also put in the family Laxmanniaceae.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows on calcareous loam, sand and clays. It grows in the Mallee in Australia.
