What it is like
A tree. It grows 25 m high. The trunk is straight. The bark is grey and slightly rough. The small branches have a mango scented sap. The leaflets are oval and pointed. They are shiny. The mid vein is off centre. The leaves turn reddish-orange before falling. It loses its leaves in the dry season. The flowers are cream and in dense clusters. The fruit are dark red and 6 mm across. They turn black when ripe.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in coastal regions and along rivers and can be in woodland. It grows from sea level to 1,000 m above sea level. In Townsville palmetum.
